Sakhar (Golden Champac / Yellow Champac)

This is a large evergreen tree and has two flower colours - yellow and white. It grows wild in regions of Lower Myanmar that have a heavy rainfall, but it can also be grown throughout Myanmar. Its flowers, which have a pungent scent, are up to 2-3 inches in length. It blossoms luxuriantly in April and May, and the tree can grow in all types of drained soil.

It is a medium to large shrub with glossy green elliptical leaves and snow white flowers. White tubular flowers in clusters open throughout the warmer months and their scent is strongest in the evening. Sakhar also grows in northern India , China , and Northern Thailand.
